Step by Step
From First Conversation to a Finished Kitchen
These stages apply broadly across stock, semi-custom and custom cabinetry projects, with the level of customization affecting how much time each stage takes.
1. Initial conversation
We start by talking through how the kitchen is used day to day, what is not working in the current layout, and what you would like to change. This includes a rough sense of budget range and whether stock, semi-custom or custom cabinetry seems like a fit.
2. Measurements
Accurate measurements of walls, ceiling height, window and door openings, and any obstructions such as soffits, plumbing or electrical panels are taken on site. In older Hollywood-area homes, walls and floors are not always perfectly square, so this step often surfaces details that affect layout options.
3. Layout planning
With measurements in hand, we work through layout options: where cabinets, appliances and an island (if included) will sit, traffic flow, and how much of the plan needs custom sizing versus standard modules.
4. Cabinet selection
This is where cabinet level — stock, semi-custom or custom — gets decided along with door style, box construction and configuration of drawers, pull-outs and tall storage.
5. Finish and hardware selection
Door color or wood tone, sheen, and hardware style (knobs, pulls, hinges) are selected. Samples are useful here since finishes can look different under kitchen lighting than in a showroom or on a screen.
6. Final specifications
All selections are documented into a final specification: exact cabinet sizes, quantities, finishes, hardware and any accessories such as internal organizers or decorative panels. This specification is what gets ordered.
7. Installation planning
Before cabinets arrive, we confirm site readiness — whether old cabinets need removal, whether plumbing or electrical needs to be relocated, and the general sequence of work relative to countertops, backsplash and flooring.
8. Installation
Cabinets are set, leveled and secured, with attention to how they meet walls, ceilings and adjoining surfaces. Installation complexity varies by layout, ceiling conditions and how much of the kitchen is being reconfigured.
9. Adjustment and punch-list review
After installation, doors and drawers typically need adjustment for even reveals and smooth operation. A punch-list walkthrough is a normal part of most cabinetry projects, not a sign anything went wrong.
10. Care guidance
We go over basic care for your specific finish and hardware — appropriate cleaning products, how to handle humidity in a Florida kitchen, and habits that help doors, drawers and finishes hold up over time.

Skipping or rushing a step in this sequence — for example, ordering cabinets before final measurements are confirmed, or choosing a finish before seeing it under your kitchen's actual lighting — is one of the more common sources of delay or dissatisfaction in cabinetry projects. Taking each stage in order, even when it feels slower up front, tends to produce a smoother result.
